A 24-year-old local Hindu girl approached the police in Gurgaon, accusing a Muslim man of faking his identity as Hindu, marrying and impregnating her and later abandoning her.

The victim worked in the placement agency of the accused, identified as Vikas Sharma, alias Bilal Ahmed, and his brother Mohit Sharma, alias Dildar.

 

“It was in January that Mohit raped me. When I threatened to go to the police, his brother Vikas promised to marry me and give a good respectable life. He took me to Jaipur and married me in a temple.”

We started living as husband and wife in Gurugram and I got pregnant. I asked Vikas to get our marriage registered and he started avoiding the issue. When I insisted, he told me he was a Muslim and could not have a Hindu wife. He then thrashed me and fled on September 11. I waited for many days and then went to my old office and questioned Mohit, but he threatened to kill me. In a rage, he told me they both were Muslims and revealed their real names,” the victim said in her complaint.
